minimize in background broken

while 'minimize in background' is selected
main window not persistent on desktop [disappears upon mouse-click]

not sure who's responsible for what here, so i'm just defaulting to ed

    edit: the window automatically minimizes to tray when i try to move it. other than that, it appears to respond
